Why Water Damage Is a Serious Problem in Bolingbrook

Basement water is a practical concern in Bolingbrook, particularly after heavy rain, snowmelt, or sump pump failure. The Village provides guidance on sump pumps, drainage, groundwater, and basement flooding, underscoring the importance of below-grade water management for local homeowners.

Bolingbrook’s housing stock varies considerably by neighborhood. Many established areas date to the village’s growth in the 1960s and 1970s, while newer subdivisions expanded farther west in later decades. During water damage restoration, these differences can matter. Older plumbing, remodeled basements, mixed building materials, and newer finished lower levels can each create different paths for moisture and affect what needs to be inspected, dried, or removed.

What to Expect During the Restoration Process

What you can see on the floor rarely tells the whole story. Our first step is to determine where the water traveled and how far it spread. Depending on the loss, moisture may have moved beneath finished flooring, into drywall and insulation, behind baseboards, or even into adjoining rooms. From there, we build the drying plan around what we find. A sump pump failure in a finished basement is handled differently than a burst pipe or sewer backup. Some materials can be dried in place. Others need to come out. We’ll show you what the moisture readings tell us, explain why those decisions are being made, and track drying conditions throughout the job. If insurance is involved, we also document the affected areas and the work performed so there is a clear record of the loss.

Throughout the project, you can expect:

  • Inspection and moisture mapping beyond visibly wet areas
  • Photos and documentation of affected materials
  • Clear explanations of what can stay and what needs to be removed
  • Moisture readings throughout the drying process
  • Updates on drying progress and next steps
  • Clear expectations before reconstruction begins
  • Documentation to support the insurance claim process
  • One point of contact who knows what is happening with your job

Our Water Damage Cleanup & Repair Process

Step 1
Call Us

Give us a call and tell us what happened. We’ll ask about the affected areas so we have a better idea of the situation and what equipment the crew may need.

Step 2
Inspection & Assessment

Once on site, we look beyond the obvious wet areas. Moisture meters help measure moisture in affected materials, while thermal imaging can help identify areas that need a closer look.

Step 3
Water Extraction

If there’s standing water, extraction comes first.  We also evaluate affected materials to determine what can reasonably be saved and what may need to be removed.

Step 4
Drying

Removing standing water doesn’t mean the building is dry. We monitor moisture readings as drying progresses and adjust the equipment when needed.

Step 5
Cleaning

Contaminated-water losses like sewer backups require more involved cleanup than clean-water leaks, including removing materials that cannot be safely restored.

Step 6
Restoration

After drying, repairs begin and may include replacing drywall, insulation, flooring, or trim removed during mitigation.

Insurance Claim Assistance Made Simple

Water damage is stressful enough without having to relay every detail between the restoration crew and your insurance company. When a claim is involved, we can communicate with your carrier or adjuster and provide photos, moisture readings, damage documentation, and details about the work performed. Your insurance company determines coverage, but we can answer restoration-related questions, provide the documentation they request, and keep you informed as cleanup, drying, and repairs move forward.
